I've tried various calmers for my mare, all with little to no effect. I was sceptical about whether step free would work but it really does- the difference it makes on competition days makes it worth its weight in gold. My mare gets wound up the moment the travel boots come out, then gets so wound up she can be difficult to load, but with a shot of step free I no longer need to worry about becoming a human kite, loading is quick and easy and the stress is gone.  I thought it was maybe her becoming more relaxed so tried her without a shot of step free and she was back to being anxious and uptight the second the travel gear made its appearance!
