Ingredients

Psyllium

Helps to support normal digestion, particularly helpful if sand has been injested. Helps moderate glucose response.

It is derived from the ripe seeds of Plantago species. The seed coating is rich in hemicellulose mucilage, which absorbs water and swells inside the intestine. Is often used to help ingested sand pass through the digestive system. It can help treat constipation from lack of fibre in the diet, can help treat watery diarrhoea as it can be used as a water-absorbing agent, useful for an irritable bowel and used to help sand colic as a laxative.

As it is high in gel-forming fibre it can help slow digestion which in turn will help regulate high cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar. It can also help weight loss by slowing stomach emptying prolonging the sensation of satiety, therefore increasing the feeling of fullness and reducing the hunger pangs.

Psyllium can also bind to fat and bile acids which will promote their excretion from the body. This loss of acid will promote the liver to use cholesterol to produce more, resulting in reducing cholesterol levels.

The non-digestible compound will nourish the intestinal bacteria to help them grow as a prebiotic effect. It can promote short-chain fatty acid production and decrease digestive discomfort in patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
