Bosweillia
Four acids in boswellia powder contribute to the herb promote mobility and comfort. These acids inhibit 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO), an enzyme that produces leukotriene. Acetyl-11-keto-boswellic acid (AKBA) is thought to be the most powerful of the four boswellic acids. However, other research suggests other boswellic acids are responsible for the herb’s anti-inflammatory properties. Boswellia products are generally rated on their concentration of boswellic acids. We select only the purest available.

Tumeric is a member of the ginger family. The warming herb is prized for antioxidants that mop up free radicals. Curcumin is more potent in our powdered supplements because of the extraction from the turmeric,” We advise against the addition of this herb for horses who have digstion issues and instread get the benefits from the Franinsense herb bosweillia which is softer on the stomach. We strongly disagree with the trend of adding black pepper for this same reason.

Ginger has a very long history of use in various forms of traditional and alternative medicine. It’s been used to aid digestion. The unique fragrance and flavor of ginger come from its natural oils, the most important of which is gingerol.Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger. It’s responsible for much of ginger’s medicinal properties. Gingerol has powerful antioxidant effects that mop up free radials and it may help reduce oxidative stress, which is the result of having an excess amount of free radicals in the body.
MSM
Methylsulfonylmethane is the oxidized form of dimethyl sulfoxide, generally occurring in green plants, fruits and vegetables. Adding MSM into the equine joint supplement enhances the benefits of all of the natural ingredients in the body, allowing the body to restore its natural balance as time and workload pressures are increased.
Vegan Glucosamine
There are several types of glucosamine available commercially. Most of these are extracts of shellfish, as glucosamine is also a major component of their exo-skeletons (prawn & crab shells). A vegetarian version is also available, which is made from the fermentation of cereals. On product labels, you will generally see either Glucosamine Sulphate or Glucosamine Hydrochloride listed. As well as a difference in their manufacturing method, there is a big difference in actual glucosamine content. Glucosamine Sulphate is generally only about 60% actual glucosamine, where as Glucosamine HCl is nearly 99% glucosamine. Care should be taken when choosing a supplement – if the product contains glucosamine sulphate, you could be feeding considerably less actual glucosamine than you think!
